Ingredients

  • pound butter
  • cup sugar
  • cups sifted flour

Instructions

  • Soften butter at room temperature.
  • Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
  • Add flour and blend with pastry cutter until mixed.
  • Press into greased inch square pans.
  • Prick top with tines of fork.
  • Bake until golden and firm to touch.
  • Cut in squares while warm.
  • Allow to cool before removing from pan.
